One of our books this term has been ‘Goldilocks

One of our books this term has been ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. The children have really enjoyed learning the story and retelling it using the props available. We then extended this by adding masks for the children to be able to take on a role in their play and act out the story with their friends. We had a visit from the Ladbroke Grove fire statio

We had a visit from the Ladbroke Grove fire station. The children were able to explore the fire truck, hose, radios and try on their helmets. The children were able to ask the firefighters questions about their fire truck and the equipment that they use. The firefighters spoke to the children about how to keep safe in the event of a fire.

February Half Term Holiday Club. We are now introducing half day spaces from (9am to 12pm) as well as all day space (8.30am-4.30pm). If you would like your child to attend holiday club, we are now taking bookings for April. Please speak to Vanessa or Anousha at Reception.

The children have been learning about Lunar new ye

The children have been learning about Lunar new year, as part of the learning a small group of children took a trip to China town and saw all the different sized red lanterns. They explored some of the shops and looked at the different types of food that they could buy such as noodles, fish, different types of fruit and vegetables. The children were very excited to explore the new environment and commented on what they could see using lots of language e.g ‘lion, lanterns, fortune cookies, Lego, china town, octopus’.

The children brought back sticks and measuring tap

The children brought back sticks and measuring tapes from forest school and used them to learn about numbers and measuring. We also used our problem solving skills to find the correct tool to loosen the screws and bolts. Child E said ‘I used this to help my Dad build a bed’ and Child Y said ‘ I used Allen key with my mum’.

As part of our community topic, we went to visit St Pius Catholic church on St Charles Square. The children had an opportunity to explore the inside of the church, they asked lots of questions about the statues, who would go to this church to pray, why we light a candle and for some children, they could recall previous experiences of family times in a church. M said ‘we clap our hands and sing hallelujah and Amen’ #respect #relgion #commuinty #similaritiesanddifferences
