March 2021
Dear Parents, Carers, Governors and Friends of Golborne and Maxilla
Our topic this half term is Growth. The children have been learning about the life cycles of insects and animals. We currently have caterpillars in the nursery and Living Eggs delivered fertilised eggs for us to incubate. We currently have 10 eggs incubating in the yellow room, and seven chicks have hatched so far. Have your children talked to you about them?
After the half term we will concentrate on our love of learning. Each week we will focus on a different area of the curriculum starting with “Inclusion week”. The week commencing the 26th April focus will be children’s physical development, this will be followed by ‘Communication and Language week’ (03/05/21), Creative week (10/5/21), Maths Week (17/05/21) and finally Understanding of the World (24/05/21)
Forest School will start on Thursday 22nd April. Parents of the first group of children will be contacted by Natasha, our Forest School Coordinator. Forest school takes place at the Maxilla Gardens.
The children have created artwork on Tote bags prior to Christmas, which we are selling for a minimum of £4 contribution. This is one of our fundraising initiatives; if you have any other ideas for fundraising, please contact the Parent Governors as they are always looking for new ideas.
There will be no changes to our current entry and exit arrangements.
Staffing
We are pleased to welcome Patricia who is our new Nursery Officer. Patricia joined us in January and has been working in school throughout the lockdown.
REMINDERS AND REQUESTS
We understand that sometimes children like to eat on route to Nursery. If your child has not finished eating when they get to nursery, they will be asked to wait in the reception with staff until they have finished. They will then be asked to wash their hands as we have children with allergies.
Please bring a water bottle each day for your child
School Information
We use Schoolcomms (also known as school gateway) to invoice you for meals, after school club, childcare fees etc. You should have received an email with details of how to register. If you have not received the email please contact the office on 020 8968 5622. If you are eligible for free school meals please ensure that you have completed the relevant form so that we are able to confirm this.
